Green bean casserole is a legendary holiday side dish that is the perfect playground for feta cheese. Feta cheese crumbles instantly give this classic a bold and memorable flavor profile on top of the same great classic taste.
Ingredients
- 4 cups frozen cut green beans
- 1 (10.5 oz) can cream of mushroom soup
- ½ cup milk
- 1 tsp soy sauce
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- Cracked black pepper, to taste
- ½ cup Athenos Traditional Feta Cheese Crumbles
- 1 ½ cups fried onions, divided
Method
- Preheat the oven to 350 F.
- Boil frozen green beans (or fresh if using) until they are defrosted and tender but still very crisp. About 2-3 minutes or so and remove from boiling water.
- In a large mixing bowl add drained green beans, cream of mushroom soup, milk, soy sauce, garlic powder, a few turns of cracked black pepper, feta cheese crumbles and ¾ cup of fried onions. Mix together until the beans are evenly coated in the sauce. Transfer mixture to a casserole dish.
- Bake uncovered for 30 minutes or until the mixture is bubbling. Add the remaining fried onions on top and continue to bake for another 10 minutes or until the top is golden brown.
